TRANSPORT

Dagestan transport network includes rail, road, air and sea transport.

 

The largest transport hubs are in Makhachkala (three railway lines, two highways, seaport, airport), Derbent, Khasavyurt, Kizlyuar.

 

As of January 1, 2011, the length of railway track in use is 516 km, the stretch of public paved roads is 7,681 km.

 

Federal roads are "Caucasus", "Astrakhan – Kaspiyskiy – Kochubei – Kizlyar – Makhachkala", "Kochubei – Neftekumsk – Zelenokumsk – Mineralnye Vody"; republican roads are "Makhachkala – Buinaksk – Gymry – Chirkata – Sagrinskiy bridge – Tlokh – Botlikh".

 

International and domestic air lines operate through Makhachkala airport. International and domestic sea lines operate through the Port-Petrovsk international commercial seaport in Makhachkala.
